Leaving Cert Subjects

English, Irish, Maths, Spanish, History, Geography, Biology, Religion, Music, Home Economics, Design and Communication Graphics (DCG), Art, Business, PE & Career Guidance at Higher and Ordinary level.

Transition Year

Transition year students sample a wide variety of the above subjects as well as First Aid, Creative writing, Drama and Horticulture. They also involved in Community initiatives such as community clean up, paired reading and music recitals in the local area. Students are on work placement once a week throughout the year. They also have plenty of opportunities to explore Ireland with the highlight being the foreign trip.

Leaving Cert Applied

We have a really comprehensive LCA programme offering Hotel Catering and Tourism, Construction Studies, Leisure and Recreation and work experience. LCA is a practical Leaving Cert programme with emphasis on preparation for the world of work and life long learning.

Scholarship Programme

Rosary College students are encouraged to aspire to further education. To this end, a number of Scholarship Programmes have been introduced. There are ten academic Scholarships worth €1,000 each available to incoming first year students. A large multinational engineering company (DPS) makes an annual donation of  €12,000 to encourage Senior Students to access third level education. Finally, there is a fund available which awards scholarships to students who have successfully secured a place in University.

Junior Cert School Programme

 

The Junior Certificate Schools Programme is designed to ensure that young people can benefit from their time in school and enjoy the experience of improvement and success.

The Junior Certificate School Programme operates within the Junior Certificate curriculum. It follows the curriculum framework set out for the Junior Certificate, which is re-focused to cater for JCSP students. It is the curriculum accessible and relevant to young people who would benefit from a different approach to the Junior Certificate.

The Leaving Certificate Applied is a distinct, self-contained two-year Leaving Certificate programme aimed at preparing students for adult and working life.

The programme sets out to recognise the talents of all students and to provide opportunities for developing personal responsibility, self-esteem and self-knowledge. The programme focuses on the talents of each student and helps students apply what they learn to the real world.

Courses are offered in three main areas:

– Vocational Preparation, involving work experience, enterprise and communication

– General Education, offering life skills, the arts, social education, leisure and language

– Vocational Education.
